In 2000, Sun open-sourced the StarOffice software - this free, open-source office suite was known as. ![]() The project continued with help from Sun employees and volunteers, offering the free office suite to everyone - including Linux users. In 2011, Sun Microsystems was acquired by Oracle. They renamed the proprietary StarOffice office suite to “Oracle Open Office,” as if they wanted to cause confusion, and then discontinued it. Most outside volunteers - including the contributors to Go-oo, who contributed a set of enhancements used by many Linux distributions - left the project and formed LibreOffice. LibreOffice was a fork of and is built on the original code base. Most Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, switched their bundled office suite from to LibreOffice. In 2011, Oracle gave the trademarks and code to the Apache Software Foundation. The project known as OpenOffice today is actually Apache OpenOffice and is being developed under Apache’s umbrella under the Apache license. LibreOffice has been developing more quickly and releasing new versions more frequently, but the Apache OpenOffice project isn’t dead. Apache released the beta version of OpenOffice 4.1 in March, 2014. You can download LibreOffice or OpenOffice for free for Windows, Linux, or Mac. Both office suites include the same applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases. These two projects share the vast majority of their code. They have similar interfaces and features. Look at LibreOffice’s status bar at the bottom of the window and you’ll see a live-updating word count for the current document. On OpenOffice, you still have to select Tools > Word Count to view the word count at any given time - it won’t update and show itself automatically. LibreOffice also has support for font embedding in documents. ![]() This can be activated from File > Properties, under the Font tab. Embedding a font in a document ensures that document will look the same on any system, even if the computer doesn’t have the font installed. We could go on looking for more differences, but this really just feels like nitpicking. The vast majority of people will have trouble noticing the difference between LibreOffice and OpenOffice. They’re both free and open-source, so you can always download both to compare - you probably won’t notice too much of a difference. The sidebar above is an interesting example of where these projects are going. The sidebar in OpenOffice is an entirely new feature the Apache OpenOffice project has added to OpenOffice. On the other hand, the experimental sidebar in LibreOffice looks basically identical to OpenOffice’s sidebar. OpenOffice’s sidebar code was copied and incorporated into LibreOffice. The Apache OpenOffice project uses the Apache License, while the LibreOffice uses a dual LGPLv3 / MPL license. The practical result is LibreOffice can take OpenOffice’s code and incorporate it into LibreOffice - the licenses are compatible. On the other hand, LibreOffice has some features - like font embedding - that don’t appear in OpenOffice. ![]()

The film belongs to Ralph Fiennes, in what is essentially the heart of the film, while he has always been a fine actor he has not given a performance this brilliant in years, never knew he could be so riotously funny. Basic: Sets the basic text settings such as font, size, alignment, tracking, and line spacing. Murray Abraham, Jeff Goldblum, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson give very entertaining performances, while Edward Norton is delightfully droll and Adrien Brody and especially Willem Dafoe bring sinister foreboding to the film. My only criticism of the film is that Harvey Keitel and Saoirse Ronan are underused and just get lost amongst everything else, an unrecognisable Tilda Swinton also has little to do but still gives a bat-out-of-hell performance. 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' boasts an impeccable cast and pretty much everybody does a splendid job, though many of the roles are short. ![]() Anderson directs superbly, the story balances darkness and quirkiness to great effect (the prison scene is unforgettable) and it's never too simplistic or convoluted (though of course the visuals, dialogue and performances make much more of an impact) and the screenplay is a sublime mixture of the dark, the quirky, the witty and the subtle delivered with rapid-fire. Alexandre Desplat also received an Oscar, and with its hauntingly hypnotic and entrancing tones it richly deserved it as to me it was by far the best score of those nominated. The costumes, production design and hair and make-up richly deserved their Oscar/Academy Award wins, the costume and production design have a lusciously colourful fairy-tale feel while also given substance by the bleakly atmospheric quality that reflects the crime drama aspect of the story brilliantly. It really stuns visually, with cinematography that is not only clever in technique but also gorgeous in aesthetic and tight, fluid editing. While it isn't quite flawless, and it is easy to see why a number of people don't like or will not like it (due to a lot of the cast's roles being pretty short, only Gustave and Zero being fully fleshed out of the characters and those who have a problem with Anderson's style), 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' is a visually stunning, hugely entertaining, wonderfully weird and impeccably cast and acted film. That it was directed by Wes Anderson (who has a unique style that really fascinates, but admittedly not everybody will like or warm to his style) and that the cast is so stellar were reasons enough to see 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' in the first place, as well as its many accolades and critical acclaim. ![]() ![]() They were very thorough in getting to the bottom of why the fault happened and have even informed me that they have changed manufacturer because of this issue.

Like the “Magic Mike” films that Carolin wrote, Brigg’s road-trip encounters make for an American odyssey navigating polarized views of patriotism and politics. “Dog,” the directorial debut of both Tatum and his longtime producing partner, Reid Carolin, was a way to get back to making the kind of movie that excited them about the business in the first place. All the while, Tatum’s screen appearances - a handful of cameos and voice roles - were fleeting. In 2018, Tatum and Jenna Dewan, who had been married for nine years after first meeting during 2006’s “Step Up,” announced their split. In the last five years, Tatum launched the touring stage show “Magic Mike Live” and penned a children’s book inspired by his 8-year-old daughter, Everly. “I didn’t step away like ‘I’m out of here,’” says Tatum. "It's how we communicate and where we put all our time and money. "Social media for us is our direct link to our community," says Lee. To promote this, Signal employees are constantly on social media to continue to showcase customers' experiences with the subscription platform. Lee says that the three pillars of his company's success are accessibility, participation, and experience. It then becomes more exciting to go out and participate with the right gear."
